"I was once an abused woman. Only 21 years old, I was stuck in an unhappy marriage with 2 young children. My husband (at the time) drank and missed work so much he couldn’t keep a job. He would drink and forget all his responsibilities, even to pick up our son at daycare.

He would become angry when he drank. He would come home and pick a fight with me over nothing and hit me. Each time he said it would be his last. Broken promises proved to be a sick cycle over time, that wouldn’t end.

I finally got out with the help of a nurse in the ER who could tell I’d been beaten by my husband, I made my escape with my 2 small children, with the help of that nurse and my aunt.

Thank God for those 2 women for helping me. I might not be here to share this story today if they had not helped me then." ~Survivor

"I has the misfortune to have a ring side seat in my childhood. Not me I said, never will I stand for any man who lays a finger on me. I married the kindest gentlest and masculine man ever to walk the earth. It was a long search but so worth it." ~Daughter of a victim

"My mother passed her pain to me as did her mother. But not other granddaughters, it stopped with me." ~Anonymous
